ADVANCED DESIGN STUDIO project

Did you know that girls as young as six years old feel that boys are better at robotics and programming?

Inspired by the potential of creating an exciting entryway into STEM for young girls, we dreamed up an augmented reality dollhouse that would create opportunities for early programming skills and 3D modelling.

We created a laser-cut prototpye dollhouse with furniture and “magic stickers” (AR markers) that can be played with a virtual application. Children can still retain imaginative and narrative play through physical arrangements of furnitures, but they will be able to add another dimension by holding up a tablet or phone (with the application open) to the magic stickers to discover hidden assets.

Our ideal product would have the ability to customize what appears and when it appears, in addition to creating their own 3D models.
